Arrest Made In Fatal South Jersey Shooting: Prosecutor

A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a Cumberland County man, authorities said.

Miguel A Barea was located and arrested without incident, according to the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

The shooting occurred late Saturday night near the intersection of S Main Road and E Elmer Road in the city of Vineland.

Vineland Police said officers were called to the area at approximately 11:43 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 for a report of a vehicle which struck a residence in the eleven hundred block E Elmer Road. Responding officers located the shooting victim, George Gonzalez, age 27, of Walnut Road, Vineland, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Barea was being held in the Cumberland County Jail pending a first court appearance.
